Dare To Love by Amanda Kaitlyn

One moment changed my life forever. Her big green eyes looked at me and I knew I would never be the same.

Dare to love

ONE MOMENT.
One moment changed my life forever.
Her big green eyes looked at me and I knew I would never be the same.
But sometimes in life, the things you want are the ones that stand just out of reach.
The pain her loss in my life caused was indescribable.
Hot, piercing pain that in all of my twenty years of living, I had never experienced.
I remembered her.
Every day.
Every bad date my friends pushed me into.
Every lonely holiday I spent without her to talk to.
Until we met once more.
And I found her all over again.
My father always told me that love snuck up on you when you were least expecting it.
That’s what happened with her.
Charlie was my girl from that moment on and I would do anything to protect her.
Anything.

Dare To Love is an installment of The Beautifully Broken Series but can be read as a standalone.

MY HANDS PRESSED to my sides as I watched her run from me for what I hoped was the last time. On a soft sigh, I tore my hands from my sides and through the long, brown hair that almost reached the middle of my back.

Shit.

The image of her beautiful, kind face and her bright eyes was branded in my mind, and I crumbled beneath waves of renewed pain as I pushed her away. I couldn’t escape the agony as my eyes closed and my heart pounded loudly in my ears. My beautiful, innocent Ally.

If I knew how deeply our friendship ran in her deep, loving heart, I would have stayed away. I would have stopped showing up at the record studio where she was working part-time for her older brothers. I wouldn’t have agreed to tutor her when her grades went south last year. I just wouldn’t have.

But, I did. I stayed close because somewhere between the first day we met, our little talks over her school books and the glances she gave me when she thought I wasn’t looking, I’d begun having feelings for her that I had no right to.

She was sixteen, for God’s sake.

But as my mother always said to me as a girl, the heart wants what it wants.

For some crazy, wild and inappropriate reason, my heart had chosen her.

That didn’t make it right, though.

The phone call from a hot shot music company I received earlier today opened my eyes to how far I had let myself fall in the pull she caused in me. I knew I had to get away from her, somehow, in some way. I just didn’t know when I would, how it would unfold.

It seemed to me that fate stepped in to make the choice for us.

The job offer from Universal Music Group was a once in a lifetime opportunity for me and if I didn’t take it, I knew I’d regret it.
