Recognize learned helplessness
My 100,000 readers email me regularly, and they ask what they should do to decrease their symptoms, but many of them aren’t willing or ready to put the work in. They felt helpless when they were little children, and they are addicted to this feeling of helplessness. They saw their parents or others use labels as a crutch. Or, they learned that playing the victim card would cause their parent(s) or teachers or siblings to run to their aid.
A person who doesn’t train themselves fully to cope with their situation in an intelligent and problem-solving way can become paralyzed by their mental health and their neuroses.
