PART ONE
DEFINITION OF LOVE
This is the commandment, that as you have heard from the beginning, you should walk in it.” (NKJV). This clearly shows that to love is to walk in God’s commandment.
CHARACTERISTICS OF LOVE
LOVE IS GIVING. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (NKJ). This shows that it was out of love that God gave his only son (Jesus Christ) to die for us. God’s giving is a sign of his love. Galatians 2:20 says, “I have been crucified with Christ, it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith…”. NKJV. Apostle Paul makes it clear here that Christ loved us that is why he gave himself to us. There can be no love without giving.
This shows that it was out of love that God gave his only son. Loveis giving. This giving may come in the form of money, material possession, time, attention and many more. Let us consider another text from the bible; Galatians 2:20 this text throws light on the fact that it was out of love that Jesus Christ gave himself for us sinners. God could have wiped out mankind from the face of the earth and create new creatures to replace man. But because he loves us, he rather gave his only son to come and suffer death. If you are in a relationship with someone and he or she is not willing to give time, attention, etc, (not including sex) then be careful. He or she may not be in genuine love with form. You do not need to demand things from yours partner before he or she gives you something. He or she should give willingly without you asking for it.
