If you think that the love affair with Buddhism in the West is a modern phenomenon, you are mistaken, in fact, although Buddhism has only in recent years become a very popular spiritual practice in western countries, its origin can be traced back to Alexander the Great, who, whilst conquering Asia Minor, also imported spiritual beliefs from the Orient, the oldest statue of the Buddha known in the west dates back to the first or even second century BCE.
