The four walls felt like they were closing in on me, and I wondered how the rehabilitation facility expected me to move around when I was in wolf form. They didn't was the obvious answer.
Perhaps these measures had been put in place so the baby wouldn't get hurt. Or maybe their budget had been too restrictive to build larger spaces for all the expecting mothers. Whatever the case, I was beginning to feel claustrophobic.
I hadn't shifted alone since the first night, when the Blackfoot Werewolf Reservation held me in its shifting room inside the compound. While it had been years ago, the memory was still fresh in my mind. Being alone meant there was no one to distract me from the pain. It was all I could focus on, and I dreaded the shift more than I had in the longest time.
