The story you are about to read is true. The places and people mentioned in this story exist. The names have not been altered, nor should they need to be, as there is much good to be said of them. The events described in this story happened. The dialogue expressed herein was actually spoken, or is typical of what would have been said in the given situation.
The events described herein are not necessarily presented in chronological order. There is some jumping back and forth for the sake of background and emphasis, and just to keep things interesting. This story is not an exhaustive account. It contains a few highlights of a period of youth.
You live in a different world than the one in which this story took place. This story happened before there were any such things as GoPro video cameras, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, or whatever other personal recording devices and connectivity interfaces have entrenched themselves in your everyday life.
