Sharing passions through translation, unlimited understanding of each other across the globe, respecting local idiosyncrasies (and loving them!), that's for me what translating is all about.

Born in multilingual Belgium, translating is a part of everyday life.  I remember being the one helping uncles and aunts to understand each other at weddings and other family gatherings.  Summers camping with new friends, receiving exchange students, somehow the one ending up connecting people was always me.

Having moved at 18 to a new country, I have experienced (briefly) not to be able to connect due to language barriers.  We are social creatures, we need to share ideas.  The nuances of every language are so unique, the cognitive differences that our linguistic heritage causes so diverse, amusing and interesting, that it would be a shame for them to get lost in translation.

When I'm not busy trying to get persons in sync, I love cooking (used to be a chef), studying for my degree in Physical Education, practising martial arts, and playing rugby.

I get rather enthusiastic about the oxford comma, which my husband chooses to consistently neglect.  But hey, it's all about communication, right?
