I was born in France but went to college and lived in the USA.
Translation, for me, is more than giving sense to the original words in another language. It is nailing the original emotion, whatever it is, and giving it the exact same intensity in another language.
Translating an author's book is almost trying to become the book itself first, process it and experience it in your heart, head and body, to be able to give it birth in another language like it was its original one.
