As I am bilingual in English and German, with acquired fluent Japanese, I started my working life as a translator for computer manuals and patents. Now I have been working in the Japanese electronics industry (my area there is environment and sustainability-related) for 15 years, but, as a result of the languages, have become the unofficial internal translator for press releases, company reports, etc. At the same time, I am a keen novel reader, and in fact my first job ambition, as a teenager, was to be able to translate literature. That said, I find this site's concept exciting and hope that I could be part of a translation project, be it literature or another field.
