Every Believer is joined (united, attached, connected) to the God, the Holy Spirit. “ ... HE THAT IS JOINED UNTO THE LORD (Jesus, the Word of God) IS ONE SPIRIT….” (1 CORINTHIANS 6:17 KJV). Such an intimate connection of any kind between people is usually considered a relationship. The marriage union is the closest representation of the union or relationship between Christ, the Word, or the Spirit and the Believer.
Jesus had another name. “… His name is called The Word of God…” (Revelation 19:12-13 NASB). “….THE WORDS that I speak unto you, they are SPIRIT…” (John 6:63 KJV). “…God is Spirit …” (John 4:24 KJV). The “WORD” is spirit and God is spirit; they are one and the same. “…the Word was God … (John 1:1-4 NASB). “ ... HE THAT IS JOINED UNTO THE LORD (Jesus, the Word of God) IS ONE SPIRIT ...[with God again]….” (1 CORINTHIANS 6:17 KJV).
However, in marriage you are commanded to become “one flesh” which means to become intimate, with one another, as humanly possible. In the relationship with Christ, the Word we become “one Spirit” or reunited again with God, the Holy Spirit. “… [God,] the Holy Spirit gives birth to SPIRITUAL LIFE…” (John 3:6 NLT). “…GOD, [the Holy Spirit] IS SPIRIT…” (John 4:24 KJV). “…God [the Holy Spirit SENDS] … forth the Spirit of His Son (WORD) “INTO” [Y]OUR HEARTS…” (Galatians 4:6 NASB). “…God [the Holy Spirit] has given [you] HIS Spirit as PROOF (TO CONFIRM) … he [dwells]…in [you]…” (1 John 4:13 NLT).
