Miracle at the Vatican

In my groundbreaking novel, the readers will discover an incredible solution, devised by the Vatican Curia, to change definitely the destiny of the Holy Roman Church and of the whole world in sixteen days.

Three cardinals plan with Pope Paul VII a huge project to try to re-establish faith and Christianity among peoples, which have been in deep crisis for decades.
In a sea of difficulties, they almost come to realize the crazy plan: like Jesus Christ, the Pontiff will have to pretend to die next Good Friday and will have to be resurrected on Easter Sunday.
The story takes place in the sixteen days preceding a future Easter: at the end of these fateful days, the world should change for the better, at least this is the dream of the four protagonists; but unfortunately, shortly before the established date, the Holy Father was diagnosed with a serious illness, which would not allow the implementation of the plan.
On the night of Good Friday, during the Via Crucis at the Colosseum, the Pontiff suffered a fatal attack. The enormous event will have unimaginable consequences on the entire world: nothing will be as before.
Adam, the jihadist attacker hired by an Afghan terrorist cell, manages to escape the massive manhunt. He will travel with his sick father to Egypt to their relatives' house,
Given that in these times of crisis humanity is looking for greater certainties, this book can positively influence spirits and consciences, stimulating human hope towards a better future.
Due to the universal interest of the themes covered, the novel can interest readers from all over the world. It could also lend itself well to a film adaptation with international distribution.

Chapter I

Day 1 - Sunday

At one o’clock in the morning on that warm Sunday in March, the Cardinal’s antique Art Nouveau grandfather clock emitted a single, silvery chime. The sky was aglow with a full, bright moon, but, as ever, it was detached from earthly events.

Stefano Morisini, the Vatican’s Secretary of State, widened the heavy drapes in his office just a little, and observed it from the large window thinking, “You’re spellbinding and romantic, but you’ll be indifferent to the extraordinary events that are about to unfold in this Holy See”.

Wrapped in his red silk gown, he walked thoughtfully for a few minutes, then stopped in front of the large Liberty style mirror and, sinning with pride, admired his elegant figure and his shrewd, intelligent eyes; after all, he could surely compliment himself on the ingenious plan he had devised.
