At the age of ten Andre was carried off from the
politically violent and poverty stricken country of
the Republic of Haiti to the United States. Living in
a poor neighborhood in American he made proven
effort to adjust to his new environment; but like
many black males in the U.S. he couldn't escape the
fate of becoming incarcerated. However, this was
the beginning of a long journey to awakening.
Andre turned the perilously oppressed
environment into a school where he exposed
himself to great philosophers and a range of
academic subjects, a study of mind and culture, and
he made knowledge and self-mastery his only
endeavors. In the personal written journal,
Knowledge Never Overshadows Wisdom,
K.N.O.W., Andre records his thoughts, visions, and
inner struggles in a process that took him from
being a mere juvenile to quickly becoming a
standing man. He emerged out of the harsh
environment undiminished, with a sense of purpose,
and a call to live out his destiny.
